Our Work in Action

We work to promote breastfeeding by:

• Providing information at local events and community discussions to improve awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding
• Linking child care providers to trainings and education, including the Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Initiative
• Reviewing state breastfeeding laws to inform and improve local efforts
• Working with local businesses to create breastfeeding policies that support employees and align with state and federal legislation
• Gathering local partners and community residents through the Rock County Breastfeeding Coalition to share resources and build support for breastfeeding

Impact on Rock County

Breastfeeding provides numerous health benefits and helps build strong relationships between parents and their children. It can also help reduce the risk for certain chronic health conditions, including asthma, obesity, or type 1 diabetes in babies, and breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or type 2 diabetes in mothers.
