Rock County Public Health
Rock County Public Health is a level III health department in Rock County, Wisconsin. Our staff serves over 160,000 people in more than 25 cities, villages, and towns. As a local health department, our work is guided by the the Foundational Public Health Services, 10 Essential Public Health Services, Public Health Accreditation Board standards, Wisconsin statutes, and Chapter DHS 140, the required services for Wisconsin's local health departments.
Our work aligns with three overarching goals:
- Prevent Disease Transmission
- Prevent Premature Death
- Remove Barriers to Health
These goals serve as the foundation of our work and help ensure we're able to meet our vision and mission. Some of our work includes:
- Working with municipalities to ensure health is considered in local policies and plans
- Preventing drug misuse and opioid overdoses
- Regulating over 800 food establishments throughout Rock County every year
- Leading community partnerships on reducing health inequities and improving Rock County residents' access to healthy foods
- Providing immunizations to those who are uninsured or underinsured
- Conducting routine testing of local beaches, lakes, and rivers for E.coli
